About Sue

Sue's interest in the piano began at a very early age, sitting underneath the keyboard whilst her Mum played. After A'level music and ABRSM grade 8 piano a BSc degree led to a short career in the Nutrient Supplements industry alongside piano teaching and study towards the ABRSM performance diploma during evenings and weekends.

Since 2003 Sue's career has been dedicated solely to music teaching, obtaining the CTABRSM teaching diploma in 2005 and building a thriving teaching practice at her home studio and in local primary and secondary schools.

"My training in Suzuki piano teaching began in January 2016. I've always felt that anyone should be able to learn music if they want to and that there shouldn't be a selection process for high quality, robust teaching. Therefore the Suzuki philosophy of Talent Development and the belief that ' Every Child Can' resonates deeply with me. The approach is particularly rigorous (hence the quality is high) and it focuses on small steps at a time in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere (hence it's fun and engaging for the child) - what's not to like."

In 2022 Sue achieved a long held ambition to build a self contained, dedicated studio and now teaches from "The Piano Barn" in the garden of her home in Kneesall, Nottinghamshire.
